Rising Sun, Maryland

After my career in Montana, I moved to Maryland, settling first in the Chesapeake Bay town of North East, where I rented a bayside cottage for two years. I soon found and purchased a lovely home in Rising Sun, Maryland, one of the oldest settlements in Cecil County. For six years, I negotiated teacher contracts in Cecil, Kent and Queen Anne's Counties before moving to Prince George's County outside Washington, D.C. There I remained for the duration of my career with Maryland State Teachers Association. I retired in August 2007 and returned to my native Mississippi.

Great Falls and Missoula, Montana

I taught at C.M. Russell High School in Great Falls from 1965-1969. I was on the first faculty when the school opened in August, 1965. Fondly recall adopting the school logo (Russell's cattle skull), naming the newspaper and yearbook ("The Rustler" and "Russellog") and loving every day I taught at that wonderful high school with its great staff and spirited students.
I lived and taught in Great Falls, Montana from 1965-69. This is the place where Lewis and Clark had to spend a month in 1805 portaging around these falls on their expedition up the Missouri River on their way to the Pacific.

After working in Great Falls, I later moved to the pretty city of Missoula located in the Missoula Valley of the Rocky Mountains. I taught at Sentinel High School in Missoula from 1971-79, then moved to Helena.

After teaching in Great Falls and then Missoula, I moved to Helena and worked with the Montana Education Association from 1979-89.

The glaciers on the Rocky Mountains stay frozen even in the summer, but sadly due to Global Warming they are slowly melting away.

A summer job at Glacier National Park after my first year of teaching in Natchez, Mississippi began my lifelong love affair with beautiful Montana and its people.
